DAVIDS AVAILABLE FOR TONIGHT’S MATCH

DAVIDS AVAILABLE FOR TONIGHT’S MATCH

There are only two games being played in The Football League tonight, at Underhill and when Sheffield Wednesday host Leeds United. So it is certain that there will be considerable focus on the goings on when Barnet play Northampton Town tonight; the game has an 8 o’clock kick-off.

There is a real prospect that Underhill could witness Edgar Davids wearing the black and amber tonight on the Underhill pitch. Davids has been assigned the number 38 shirt and we could see the former Juventus ace in action this evening following the former Dutch international and Champions League winner making himself available for selection.

The interest of the media has clearly been boosted by the arrival of Edgar Davids as Joint Head Coach alongside Mark Robson but what will deeply interest Barnet fans is whether the Bees can finally get their season up and running with a much needed victory, and the three points that comes with it.

Skipper Barry Fuller maintains that the spirit in the camp remains upbeat since the squad “are always in a positive frame of mind and the team spirit and morale is still good, despite our league position.

“We are raring to go, we are itching to get out there onto the pitch and get that first win under our belt.”

He adds that with this being the first week under the new management set-up that he hopes that “collectively we’ll find the solutions to the issues that we have faced so far this season.”

Mark Robson says that “tonight, we need to show intelligence, pride and passion in our performance and take this forward and ignite our season.”

The players and staff certainly appear to be approaching the match in a positive frame of mind that can only bode well. After a run of questionable penalties that have gone against the Bees of late, if the cliché is true that the luck balances itself out over the course of a season perhaps a decision or two could go in Barnet’s favour.

If you should be unable to be at Underhill tonight then Karl Bates will be heading up the commentary team for the Barnet Player service.

The match programme tonight contains the views of Mark Robson, Barry Fuller and Paul Fairclough, enough statistics to impress Johnny Ball and a feature on this weekend’s FA Cup matches with all the numbers for all the teams in the 1st Round draw. Nice photos from regular club photographer Ben Angel too.
