Barnet FC first team players Nicke Kabamba and Jerome Okimo recently paid a visit to local grassroots club London Athletic FC at one of their training sessions.
Kabamba and Okimo spent time meeting the players and coaches of LAFC and took part in a crossbar challenge before taking the time to answer questions from the LAFC players.
Kabamba and Okimo then spent time after the session signing autographs and posing for photos.
LAFC is one of Barnet FC’s affiliated grassroots clubs and has access to many benefits.
Foundation manager Dan Barton, who leads the Affiliate Club programme, said, ‘Barnet FC is very committed to building strong links within our local community.
‘Bringing the first team players out to meet local kids is inspiring and motivating for these young players. Hopefully, these kids are the next generation of Barnet FC supporters.’
London Athletic Football Club Chairman Dean Storey said:
“Barnet FC have been fantastic and continue to be very supportive of LAFC. Their visit to the club with two of their players proved to be a great experience for all of our players, who really enjoyed the visit.
As one of the biggest grassroots clubs in London, it made sense to have the opportunity to affiliate with Barnet. With their support, opportunities, and club visits, it’s fantastic for the club and kids to have these experiences.
Having the Barnet players visit our club gives the kids opportunities for signatures and pictures, and knowing that they can have role models they can go and watch is just down the road.
For the club, it just shows class. Having that above other grassroots teams really puts us on the map.”
