Barnet FC U11 boys and girls achieved regional success in the National League Trust Cup.
The National League Trust Cup is a competition open to all clubs that are members of the National League in the 2022/23 season. The competition is designed to offer Year 5/6 students a chance to represent their local National League clubs on the biggest stage at Wembley Stadium.
The Bees in the Community hosted a series of football festivals at The Hive to decide which school would represent Barnet Football Club at the NLT Cup. St Theresa’s Catholic Primary School and West Lodge Primary School both won the right to represent the Club after success at the football festivals.
The boys (from St Theresa’s Catholic Primary School) and the girls (from West Lodge Primary School) were both crowned champions at The National League Trust Regional Cup. Both teams competed in a mini-league against the likes of Boreham Wood, Maidenhead United, Dagenham & Redbridge and Southend United to progress to the semi-finals. Both the boys and girls then progressed to the final. Barnet boys beat Boreham Wood 1-0 in the final and Barnet girls defeated Southend United 1-0 to secure double glory for The Bees.
That success meant that both teams progressed to the Southern Finals. The same format as the regional competition followed with both Barnet teams yet again progressing to the semi-finals. Unfortunately, both the boys and girls teams lost their semi-final games. The boys lost 2-1 to St.Albans City while the girls lost 2-1 to Southend United.
The players from both schools did the Club and their schools very proud.
