Barnet will hit the road for the first time this season as Dean Brennan’s side travel across the capital to Hayes Lane as they take on Bromley this Saturday (12th August, 17:30 KO).
So, What’s the Buzz?
The season opener for Barnet was a positive one with their 3-2 win over recently relegated Hartlepool United in what could be a huge 3 points come April. Dean Brennan is a man of high standards and despite the opening day victory he was disappointed with the two late goals conceded and will be looking for a reaction from his side.

Opposition Report
Bromley had a strong campaign last season, finishing just 3 points and 2 positions behind Barnet, sealing the last playoff spot where they fell at the semi-final stage, losing 3-2 after extra time to Chesterfield. When the sides met last season, it was Barnet who had the better of results, with a late double from Harry Pritchard snatching a 3-1 win away from home against The Ravens with a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture. This season however didn’t start in the best fashion for Bromley,
losing the opening game 2-0 to Halifax Town.
One to Watch: Michael Cheek
This week’s one to watch is a proven talent at this level: Michael Cheek. Cheek has been at
Bromley since 2019 after a move from fellow National League side Ebbsfleet United. The number 9
has a great record in the league, scoring 15 last campaign and winning the golden boot in 2020/21
bagging 23 goals. The 32-year-old doesn’t look like slowing down and so will once again be key to
Bromley’s promotion hopes.
In the Dugout: Andy Woodman
Andy Woodman has had a quite unique route to management. After mixed fortunes in a 17-year playing career as a goalkeeper, Woodman focused on becoming a goalkeeping coach and had spells at West Ham, Charlton Athletic, Newcastle, and Crystal Palace where he followed Alan Pardew as part of his coaching team at each club. After Pardew’s departure from Crystal Palace, Woodman left the club and had a short stint as first-team manager at non-league outfit Whitehawk FC but
left at the end of the season after securing safety. Bromley appointed Woodman in 2021 after he left Arsenal as their goalkeeping coach and has enjoyed a steady couple of seasons, winning the FA Trophy in 2022. Despite that success, He will be aiming to become the first manager in Bromley’s history to guide them to the Football League.
